The Kraken Outbarb Circle’s distinctive outside barb offers several advantages. One is straight holding power because the outbarb cannot back out like a traditional barbed hook. Hook damage typically occurs on the opposite side of the hook, further reducing potential pullout. Another is better, easier penetration because the barb is opposite the side of the hook doing most of the work. It’s also less likely anglers’ line will catch on the barb if it wraps around the hook on the drop or cast. Like all Gamakatsu hooks, the Kraken Series is built from premium grade high carbon steel to ensure against blemishes in the metal that can weaken a hook.
